Hello Kitchen

Kirameki Iron Woks — Made in Japan

Kirameki woks are handcrafted in Tsubamesanjo, Niigata Prefecture — a Japanese metalworking region with over 400 years of forging history. Each piece is made from 99.7% pure iron, built for the kind of high-heat cooking that brings out the best in stir-fries, sears, and everyday meals.

Unlike cast iron, pure iron heats faster, weighs less, and responds immediately to temperature changes — giving you the control you need at the stove without the bulk.

Double Fibre Line Technology

Kirameki's signature double fibre line finish isn't just aesthetic. The fine ridged surface increases the pan's contact area with heat, distributes it more evenly across the base and walls, and helps lock in umami-rich flavour during high-heat cooking. It also creates a natural non-stick effect as the wok seasons over time.

Nitriding Treatment — Aircraft-Grade Rust Protection

Select Kirameki woks undergo nitriding processing — the same industrial treatment used in aerospace engineering for rust resistance. This creates a hardened surface layer that protects against oxidisation, reduces the need for intensive seasoning maintenance, and extends the working life of the pan significantly compared to untreated iron.

Designed for Induction, Gas, and All Cooktops

Every Kirameki iron wok in this collection is compatible with induction, gas, electric, and ceramic cooktops. Whether you're cooking on a home induction setup or a commercial-style gas burner, Kirameki performs consistently across all heat sources.

Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about Kirameki

Kirameki is a Japanese cookware brand specialising in pure iron woks and frying pans made in Tsubamesanjo, Niigata — one of Japan's most respected metalworking regions. Each wok is made from 99.7% pure iron and built for high-heat cooking, offering faster heat response and better weight balance than traditional cast iron.

Pure iron and cast iron suit different cooking styles. Pure iron woks like Kirameki's heat up faster, weigh considerably less, and respond more quickly when you adjust the flame — which matters a lot in stir-fry cooking. Cast iron holds heat longer and suits low, slow cooking better. For wok cooking specifically, pure iron is generally the preferred choice among both home cooks and professional chefs.

Nitriding is an industrial hardening process that diffuses nitrogen into the iron surface at high temperature, creating a rust-resistant layer without any coating or chemical additive. It's the same process used in aerospace components. On a wok, it means better rust protection, a harder surface, and less intensive seasoning maintenance compared to untreated iron.

Yes. All Kirameki iron woks in this collection are compatible with induction cooktops, as well as gas, electric, and ceramic cooktops.

The standard Double Fibre Line woks benefit from an initial seasoning before first use — heating the pan with a thin layer of oil a few times to build up a natural non-stick patina. The Nitriding Processing models come pre-treated, which reduces the upkeep needed, though building up seasoning over time still improves cooking performance.
