Clay Pot Australia

Hello Kitchen's clay pot range covers two different styles of traditional cooking: electric clay pot slow cookers for everyday convenience, and Korean stone bowls for serving dishes like bibimbap straight from the pot. Both bring a natural, traditional cooking method into a modern kitchen, just in different ways.

Clay Pot Slow Cookers

Our Kylin electric clay pot slow cookers combine a genuine purple clay (zisha) inner pot with the convenience of an electric base. The clay pot itself is what does the work: it distributes heat evenly and holds it well, which is why clay cooking is associated with tender, slow cooked meals that develop deeper flavour than a standard metal pot. The electric base takes care of the temperature control, so you get the benefits of traditional clay pot cooking without needing to watch a stovetop for hours.

Because the clay pot has a naturally porous surface, it is best hand washed with warm water rather than soap, which the pot can absorb over time. Available in 4L and 5L, suited to everyday family meals, soups, and slow braises.

Korean Stone Bowls

Our Korean stone bowls are made from natural stone rather than clay, and are designed specifically for serving hot dishes like bibimbap directly at the table. Unlike a clay pot, the stone surface is dense rather than porous, so it holds and radiates heat for a long time after coming off the stove, keeping rice sizzling and vegetables warm throughout the meal. Available in 14cm, 16cm, and 18cm sizes to suit individual servings or larger portions.

Clay Pot – Frequently Asked Questions

A clay pot, like our electric clay pot slow cookers, uses a porous purple clay inner pot that distributes heat evenly for slow cooking dishes such as stews and braises. A stone bowl is made from dense natural stone and is designed to retain and radiate heat for serving dishes like bibimbap hot at the table, rather than for slow cooking.

Yes, cooking in a genuine clay pot is considered one of the healthier cookware options. The clay is free from synthetic coatings, distributes heat evenly for slow cooking, and can help you use less oil compared to some metal cookware.

Electric clay pot slow cookers suit soups, stews, congee, braised meats, and rice dishes that benefit from slow, even heat. The clay pot retains moisture well, which helps keep slow cooked meals tender.

Clean the clay pot with warm water and a soft sponge, avoiding soap where possible since the porous surface can absorb it. Let it dry completely before storing to prevent mould or cracking.

Stone bowls can be washed with warm water and a mild dish soap, since the surface is dense rather than porous. Avoid sudden temperature changes, such as placing a hot bowl straight into cold water, as this can cause cracking.

Yes, our Korean stone bowls are designed to go directly on a gas stovetop to heat before serving. Always check the specific product page for cooktop compatibility.
